Plain language explainers to help you keep up with the evolving digital landscape.

Creator

A content creator is an individual who produces digital content for platforms such as social media, blogs, websites, and video-sharing sites. This can include text, images, videos, and audio, all tailored to engage their target audience’s interests and preferences.

Content creators play a crucial role in digital marketing by providing valuable material that attracts and retains audience attention. Their efforts help brands build a loyal following, enhance their online presence, and drive traffic to websites or social media profiles.

For example, a content creator might:

  • Produce TikTok videos reviewing the latest tech gadgets.
  • Write blog posts documenting travel experiences.
  • Create Instagram posts offering fashion and lifestyle tips.

The primary goal is to engage their audience with high-quality, original content.

However, it’s important to differentiate between content creators and influencers. While influencers are often creators, not all creators are influencers. Content creators focus on producing original, engaging material, aiming to build a personal brand and expand their audience. Influencers, by contrast, use their credibility and established audience to promote products and influence purchasing decisions.

Measuring the success and direct ROI of creator and influencer activations can be difficult. That's why AdParlor takes a unique approach to leveraging creators, from planning to measurement. Read more on that here.
